Fannie Mae Updates Servicing Guide
On December 8, 2021, Fannie Mae published Announcement SVC-2021-09. With this update, the property insurance requirements formerly in Servicing Guide sections B-2 and B-4, have been incorporated into the Selling Guide. Additionally, insurance requirements for second liens are now in Servicing Guide B-2-02, with respect to coverage on existing second liens owned by Fannie Mae, as Fannie Mae is no longer purchasing second lien loans. With this consolidation, Fannie Mae notes that insurance requirements applicable only to servicers will remain in the Servicing Guide.
Per Fannie Mae, no substantive changes have been made regarding property insurance requirements.
